Our Story

A continuing saga


With offices in Houston, Texas, Neostead was first envisioned in 2001 as one of many sister-sites by its proprietor, Steve Lawrence, as a way to explore a wide range of interests and skills.

One opportunity for another

As a project manager for an international telecommunications firm, Steve began to employ web-based solutions to streamline and simplify a wide range of tasks. These solutions eventually caught the attention of the company's corporate marketing department and chief executive officer who invited Steve and his wife to visit the corporate offices in Reno, Nevada.

A better idea in the making

Turning down a lead management position in the internet marketing division, Steve returned to Houston where he began to build upon the Neostead idea of building websites without the use of 'tables' to better facilitate the search engine robots in crawling and indexing site content.  Though not yet offering his SEO services to the general public, the results of his experiments created a collection of websites that performed to plan and generated excellent search engine placement.

Research, test, develop

While continuing to research, test, and develop new methods to maximize website visibility, Steve accepted the position of general manager for Action Communication Technology, Inc. in The Woodlands, Texas. A woman-owned family business, ACT employed six employees and had no online presence to speak of. To turn the small company into a competitive force, Steve implemented several changes which included a new, more contemporary corporate logo, a customer service management program, a new service vehicle fleet sporting the new corporate image, hired a top notch director of sales, implemented a technician uniform policy, and most importantly - built and launched a new company website.

Work's dividends

In little over a year's time, ACT  grew to employ 22 employees. Previous year's total revenues were reached and exceeded by mid-year with sales of nearly $2 million. This growth was the direct result of increased website inquires and requests for proposals. SEO strategies performed as planned and search engine placement has been incredibly effective - placing in position #1-10 on page 1 for roughly 75 keyword phrases. Unique visitors to ACT's website  grew from less than 200 per month with the old, outmoded design, to over 9,000 - an increase of 4,500%!

Proven results

With proven results under his belt, Neostead began offering its services to businesses looking to increase internet visibility and build traffic. Though still relatively new in the Houston SEO scene, Neostead has already out-performed most of the older, more established firms by placing higher in the SERP's (search engine results pages) for several strategic keyword phrases.
